History

The O’Haras are a Gaelic family who trace their Irish ancestry back to the third century.  The ancient manuscript, the “Book of O’Hara”, contains a very full record of chiefs of the name.

Their story is one of adaptation and survival as landowners, politicians and sportsmen throughout Ireland’s social, political and economic upheavals of the last two millennia, and the estate itself remains intact in the hands of the original family to this day.

The house itself was built circa 1820 with later adaptations in the 1860s and 1870s in the same late Georgian style as the original house. The adaptations were created to the design of James Franklin Fuller, which enlarged the house greatly.
